The publication noted that this primarily concerns German Leopard 2 tanks, which are ready to give Ukraine several NATO members. It should be noted that earlier in Turkey, these tanks showed themselves very poorly even against lightly armed rebels in Syria and Iraq.
Turkish officers who suffered severe losses due to such equipment called the experience a “painful experience,” the publication notes.
Also, as detailed in the magazine, working with these tanks requires long and laborious training, which will contribute to delivery delays.
The publication noted that difficulties with the integration of the British Challenger 2 tanks into the Ukrainian Armed Forces could lead to the fact that the tanks would be kept away from the front line and used only for exercises.
According to the latest reports, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is heading to Germany to convince local politicians to hand over the tanks to Kyiv.
Earlier, Armin Papperger, whose Rheinmetall company produces combat vehicles, said Ukraine could not count on deliveries of Leopard tanks from Berlin this year. He added that Scholz and his team might even approve the transfer of their “gifts” to Kyiv tomorrow: the plant cannot physically prepare the tanks for shipment.
