Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said he was deeply saddened by the Yeti Airlines passenger jet crash.
As previously known, on Sunday morning, an ATR 72 turboprop en route from Kathmandu to Pokhara crashed into the ground while landing. There were 72 people on board: 68 passengers and four crew members. Among them were 15 foreigners from seven countries, including four Russians. Everyone on the plane was reported dead, but rescuers later managed to find two surviving citizens of Nepal. According to TASS, they were taken to hospital in serious condition.
Rescuers continue to work at the crash site, pulling out the bodies of the dead from under the rubble.
According to eyewitnesses, before the crash, the liner lost speed and fell on its wing. They also point out that the pilot prevented the liner from crashing in the village where the busy market of Ramghat is located, by steering the car into the Seti River gorge.
