Netflix has released a trailer for a documentary series about David Beckham. The program will include personal archival footage of the athlete and his family over the past 40 years, which has not been previously released. Viewers are also promised to show revelations from the footballer’s family, friends and coaches. The show will appear on the streaming service in early October.
The documentary project was directed by director, actor and Oscar winner Fisher Stevens. He rose to fame after starring in the films “Hackers,” “Short Circuit,” and “Short Circuit 2.” The film “The Cove,” which he produced, received an Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2010.
“With never-before-seen footage, this film chronicles David Beckham’s meteoric rise from humble beginnings to global soccer celebrity,” reads the description of Stevens’ new project.
As Netflix explained, even though everyone knows Beckham as an athlete and public figure, few people know what kind of person he is in everyday life. In the project, his loved ones will talk about him, who see him and communicate with him in everyday life, know his habits, including how he shops or cleans the house. The show’s creators called his project “an unprecedented look at a figure who, despite spending nearly 30 years in the public eye, may surprise.”
Previously, Disney+ released a show with David Beckham. It’s called Save Our Squad. In the story, the athlete returns to East London, where he began playing football as a child, and acts as a mentor to the young local athletes of the Westward Boys team, who are trying to stay in the league.
