It is known that Netflix will release a sequel to the Norwegian action film Troll. The author of the film was director Ruar Uthaug. He will continue working on the sequel with screenwriter Espen Okan. Variety reported this.
The film will be produced by Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud of Norwegian production company Motion Blur. According to them, “Troll-2”, like the first part, will be dedicated to a character from Norwegian folklore. Filming will begin in 2024.
Troll will premiere on Netflix in 2022. It became the most popular non-English language film on the streaming service. The film entered the top 10 in 93 countries. She topped the ratings in Norway, the United States and the United Kingdom. The film tells about the awakening of an ancient giant troll and his destructive journey to the capital of Norway, Oslo.
Uthaug has been imagining films about these legendary creatures for more than 20 years. The film stars Ine Marie Willmann, Mads Sjågaard Pettersen, Kim Falk, Gard B. Eidsvoll and Paul Richard Lundberg.
