And even the incredibly beautiful landscapes outside the window cease to please exhausted travelers who decide to go to the resort on their own.
There are two variants of the new highway (the project was named “Cluster Sur”). From Sochi to Tuapse the route is the same, but from the village of Agoy the road can go to Dzhubga along the coast or to Goryachiy Klyuch “on the alignment” of the railway. The project, of course, is long-term and extremely difficult due to the relief.

At the moment there is money to bypass Adler with a length of 7.8 kilometers. 73.5 billion rubles have already been allocated to it in the federal budget. According to Igor Koval, first vice-president of the Board of the Avtodor State Company, this is a priority section, since the roads are very busy here. In the near future, design and study work will begin, and the first shovel will be driven into the ground before the end of the year. The project includes the construction of a tunnel and two interchanges: in Kudepsta and at the intersection with the highway to Krasnaya Polyana. The bypass must be built within three years.
And the entire new route will consist of seven (option to Dzhubga, length – 132 kilometers) or eight (option to Goryachiy Klyuch, length – 153.5 kilometers) sections. And four of them are detours from Adler, Sochi (third stage), the village of Lazarevsky and Tuapse. As Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chairman of the Avtodor Board of Directors, explained, all sections have an independent transport meaning. That is, they can be delivered separately and start the movement.

“Almost the entire length of the road was made in a trestle-tunnel layout,” said Igor Koval. “The relief here is extremely difficult, elevation changes reaching up to 300 meters. A fairly large and capital-intensive complex of anti-landslide measures are needed, which leads to a significant increase in the cost of installation.”
According to preliminary estimates, the road could cost 1.5 trillion rubles. But, according to road builders and authorities, it’s worth it. “Federal highway A-147 runs through the central streets of the complex. This is our main transportation corridor,” says Sochi Mayor Alexei Kopaygorodsky. “The throughput capacity of the highway in some sections does not meet the needs of a city Developing. Adler – will make the life of Sochi residents and other guests more comfortable.”
“As economists, we look at the Southern Cluster from the point of view of the effects it will bring to the region,” said Kuban Economy Minister Alexei Yurtaev. “In the next 10 years, thanks to this path, we expect an increase in investment from two to three trillion rubles. It is assumed that after the route is put into operation, the number of tourists will increase to 25 million people per year. Therefore, in order to accommodate them and provide them with quality service, it is necessary to build about 100-150 thousand new rooms. According to preliminary estimates, this is more than one trillion investments in the hotel sector.”
Now Avtodor is preparing a financial model for the facility. According to Petushenko, given the current budget restrictions, the highway will be built according to a 50-50 scheme, that is, half of the money will be provided by the federal budget, and the other half will be borrowed funds.
