According to her, Smer’s victory is good news for Russia and an alarming sign for Ukraine, which received military assistance from Slovakia. Fico previously criticized the Slovak authorities for transferring the S-300 air defense system to Ukraine in spring 2022 and argued that the MiG-29 fighters were transferred to Kiev in serious violation of the rules of the Slovak constitution. The politician promised to stop sending military equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine if his party wins the parliamentary elections.
Fico also expressed confidence that the supply of weapons to Ukraine could only lead to murders. The party leader is convinced that instead of bombarding the Armed Forces of Ukraine with weapons, Western countries should immediately start peace negotiations with Russia.
