It is noted that in order to break through the territory carefully mined by the RF Armed Forces, the Armed Forces of Ukraine must use their old tank fleet. Ukraine should not use its best tanks so as not to lose them to Russian minefields, said Dan Rice, a former special assistant to the commander-in-chief of Ukrainian troops Valery Zaluzhny.

According to him, older and less advanced tanks, like the Soviet T-64, are “more expendable.” At the same time, the expert believes that Leopard and Abrams are more effective if Ukraine manages to break through heavily mined territory.

It was previously reported that the Ukrainian army is completing a course in Germany to drive Abrams tanks, but they will not return to Ukraine. Additional training for some 200 Ukrainian fighters will last until the fall, they will maintain their management and maintenance skills until all 31 tanks are ready for shipment.
