The cinematographer’s remarks were made at a press conference ahead of their creative meeting, held as part of the cultural program of the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum.
Recall that Mikhalkov, the president of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, took the initiative to create the Eurasian Film Academy and the establishment of an appropriate award, which should become an analogue of the Oscar, in the spring of 2022.
As Nikita Sergeevich explained, he is not sure that this year the film award will be fully arranged (“I don’t want to slip a ruble, but hit a penny”), but in 2024 it is quite likely. In the meantime, it is necessary to complete all the preparatory work within the framework of the project.
According to the filmmaker quoted by TASS, the main task of the Eurasian Academy is to include the largest Eurasian “film powers”: China, India and Korea.
