Nokia has updated its logo for the first time in almost 60 years. The company said most people still associate its brand with mobile phones, even though the business was sold nearly a decade ago. The redesign is intended to remind consumers of the company’s new strategy. Forbes writes about it.
“The new company logo symbolizes the vibrant, dynamic and modern Nokia, demonstrating its values and objectives. It was designed as a symbol of collaboration,” the company said in a press release.
The old logo simply had the word Nokia written on it. Now the logo consists of five different shapes that form the name of the company. The letter “N” has a truncated right vertical bar, the letter “K” has a left vertical bar, and there is a space in the letter “A”. In addition, the iconic blue color of the old logo has been replaced by a different color range.
“In most people’s minds, we’re still a successful mobile phone brand, but that’s not what Nokia is. We want to launch a new brand that is heavily focused on networking and industrial digitization,” said Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark.
