On the enemy side were pilots of naval combat aviation regiments flying deck-based Su-33s and MiG-29Ks. They simulated an attack by ships from various heights and directions, the Russian Defense Ministry reports.
The crew of the missile cruiser used the Fort anti-aircraft missile system. Sailors used electronic fire to hit simulated air targets. During the exercises, the military practiced the interaction of combat crews of the ships’ radio engineering and missile and artillery combat units in detecting, classifying targets, tracking them with radio equipment and destroying them.
The Ocean-2024 strategic command and staff exercise began on September 10 and will last until September 16. The exercises are taking place in the waters of the Pacific, Arctic, Mediterranean, Caspian and Baltic oceans. More than 400 warships, submarines and support vessels, more than 120 aircraft and helicopters of the Navy’s naval aviation and Aerospace Forces and about 90,000 military personnel are taking part.
RG wrote that warships of the Russian Navy and the Chinese Navy met in Peter the Great Bay in the Sea of Japan on the first day of the maneuvers. They saluted each other with colorful flags.
