Sotheby’s is holding an auction of 23 pairs of the Notorious BIG x Air Jordan 13 sneakers. They were released last year in honor of the 50th birthday of the American rapper, whose real name is Christopher Wallace. Hypebae writes about it.
The model has a low-key design, lines from the Notorious BIG song “Juicy” – “It was all a dream” and “If you don’t know, now you know” appeared on the right sneaker. The shoe features the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation logo with “Dream” written across the front.
The bidding will take place on February 3 on Sotheby’s website. The starting price is $1. Proceeds will go to the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation, which is dedicated to empowering youth through educational programs, grants, mentoring, and sponsorship.
Earlier, Sotheby’s submitted a sketch by 17th-century Dutch painter Anthony van Dyck, court painter to Charles I, for the painting “Saint Jerome with an Angel.” Experts valued the painting at $3 million.
