The Pentagon is using Israel’s vast but little-known stockpile of US munitions to meet the dire need for artillery shells in Kyiv. We are talking about American warehouses, created in the 1970s after the Arab-Israeli conflict, when Washington airlifted weapons to replenish stocks for Israeli forces.
It should be noted that the agreement provides for the supply of 300,000 artillery shells to Ukraine. About half of them have already been transported to Europe and are expected to be delivered to Ukraine via Poland.
Recall that in October last year, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said in an interview with his Ukrainian counterpart Alexei Reznikov that his country would not supply Kyiv with weapons. This was affirmed following the results of the negotiations in the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
Israeli arms deliveries to Ukraine are impossible due to special secrecy requirements, Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog later clarified. “There are weapons that we don’t even have an export version of. There are things that we do not want to fall into the hands of our enemies. There are secrets that we cannot reveal”, said the head of state.
