Orange imitates its competitors and raises its prices again between two and five euros

Date: March 29, 2024 Time: 19:46:36

This Sunday, Orange will apply a new price increase, of between two and five euros, in its convergent packages. The operator has been making changes to its rates since last summer in order to cope with the inflationary context.

This time Orange has accompanied its main competitors in price increases. In the case of the French operator, the average increase is 3.42%, below the increases of Movistar and Vodafone, which were 6.8% and 6.5%, respectively. In addition, Orange has accompanied the rise in prices with a greater range of services, applying the new ‘more for more’ formula.

According to calculations by the price comparator Kelisto.es, the three operators have raised their prices by an average of 4.36 euros, 5.91% in relative terms. To this is added that the three brands and Yogio have eliminated the promotions in their convergent packages since the end of last year, which means a 16.94% higher entry price.

Orange will earn almost 147 million extra euros with the rise

According to the comparator, the price increase will report 660 million euros of extra income per year for the three ‘telecos’, if they maintain their current customer base, with Telefónica as the main favored with almost 300 million euros billed, followed by Vodafone , which would enter 219 million euros and Orange, with an additional 146.7 million euros.

The telecommunications sector was one of the few sectors that did not accompany the rise in inflation in 2022, which had an impact on the company’s margins due to the rise in electricity. However, last January, telephone packages registered the highest price rise in a month in the historical series, with a rise of 5.4%.
