Christina Orbakaite married her longtime partner, Mikhail Zemtsov, on March 9, 2005, in the United States. According to her, she didn’t have the strength nor the time to plan a wedding in Russia because they live abroad. The truth is that Mikhail is now a US citizen, and in order to get married in Moscow he would have to collect a bunch of documents and take tests. Only when this happens would Christina be allowed to marry a foreigner.
I just didn’t have enough time and nerves to collect the necessary number of papers, certificates, analyses, and other items that are required if you marry a foreigner. I probably spent six months collecting these documents and they were definitely some of the most important things in my life before leaving. There was no way I could spend two days collecting all this data. In Miami, it took two days to process Mikhail and I just had to pay a few hundred dollars on top of marriage fees.
Regardless of the status of her mother, Alla Pugacheva was pleased with her modest marriage to Mikhail. She herself acknowledged that at the age of 33 she doesn’t want elaborate celebrations and doesn’t think a large number of guests is necessary for a wonderful event.

– Yes, you’re right. It’s never easy to agree on everything! But I’m glad we maintained good relations. Of course, there were times when we had to deal with our childhood friends and families in the beginning. In general, we had a lot of common topics of conversation and they helped us maintain meaningful relationships with each other. We’ve also been through some tough situations where misunderstandings or anger got pushed aside and it was just easy to connect again. Everything revolves around our children – Nikita and Denis – but even at that minimum, there were misunderstandings, mistakes, and some creative differences so nothing is perfect on the surface.
Christina and her husband, who own real estate in Miami and New York, send their daughter Claudia to an American school. Nine-year-old Orbakaite heiress Claudia is growing up as a smart and developed girl who also keeps in touch with her family members through social media.
– When I first moved to Miami, I had to acclimatize to the new environment. The weather was nice and conducive for sleeping, and everyone walking around seemed friendly. During this downtime, I had an opportunity to spend time on relaxation. One thing that really helped me was being able to walk around in my nicer shoes without wearing makeup or carrying a purse.
