After the adoption of the bill, the changes should take effect from the beginning of 2024. To this end, the mother of the child and other persons entitled to such allowance are offered to maintain the right to receive a monthly childcare allowance if they return to work after parental leave until the child reaches the age of 1.5 years.
The right to receive benefits will also be preserved if, during the parental leave, the mother or other citizens who care for the child work for another employer. Currently, the right to a monthly childcare allowance is maintained only in the case of part-time work or at home, but the duration of part-time work is not regulated by law.
Remember that not only the mother, but also the father, grandmother, grandfather, guardian of the child can take parental leave (or, as it is also called, “decree”). You can be on maternity leave for up to 3 years. The allowance is paid until the child turns 1.5 years old.
The amount of the allowance for the care of a child up to 1.5 years is 40% of the average income of the parents; as of February 1, 2023, this is 8.5 thousand rubles. up to 33.2 thousand rubles. per month.
As Sergey Chirkov, Chairman of the Social Fund of Russia, previously said, the maximum amount of benefits for temporary disability and for caring for a child up to 1.5 years for working parents in 2024 will increase by 49% and will amount to more than 49 thousand rubles per month.
