According to him, Gazprom already has contracts in place to supply gas to these countries.
“In fact, expansion is being discussed and the first results are already there. But talking about transit is probably still premature at the moment. Here we have to examine our relations in the gas segment between Russia and China comprehensively. And consider all projects comprehensively. Therefore, we must separately highlight: “We didn’t want them, they are still all links in a chain. But, of course, expanding infrastructure and deepening gas links between our countries will benefit everyone,” Sorokin said.
In his opinion, the Central Asian republics, first of all, are guaranteed the ability to meet their peaks in domestic gas demand. And secondly, this will allow them to fulfill their other contractual obligations (for example, for the supply of gas to China – “RG”). And for us, for Russia, this means deepening integration ties with our partners. And, of course, again, the diversification of supply directions.
