Lloyd declared the United States’ unwavering commitment to protecting South Korea. He stressed that the United States is aware of its obligations in the field of extended deterrence, which involves the use of the full range of US military assets, including nuclear weapons.

According to the head of the US defense department, in 2022, the DPRK committed an “unprecedented” number of provocations. Lloyd stressed that Washington condemns the DPRK’s “dangerous actions”, which also lead to destabilization of the situation in the region.

Austin Lloyd recalled that some 29,000 US soldiers are serving in South Korea. According to him, this is the largest foreign military contingent in the United States. He noted that this demonstrates Washington’s commitment to keeping peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The Pentagon chief concluded that due to the “threats” from the DPRK, response measures were intensified and exercises were also conducted.

Recall that after the visit of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to the Republic of Korea and Japan, an employee of the DPRK Scientific Society for International Policy Kim Dong Myung said that this aggravates the situation in the region of Pacific Asia.

Kim Dong Myung stressed that Stoltenberg’s trip to South Korea and Japan is a prelude to confrontation and war as it “brings the dark clouds of a new cold war.”
