The young man took out 11 hardcover books worth about 4,000 rubles, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Penza region reported.
As the suspect explained, he only stole those books that he himself read and liked very much. The titles of the works are not included in the abstract.
The attacker hoped that the literary successes would be in demand on the black market and he was going to sell them at half price. However, after the loss of the books, the culprit was quickly identified by the CCTV cameras with which the store was equipped.
The suspect has been arrested. A criminal case has been initiated for an offense under article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. According to it, the convicted person faces up to two years in prison.
