Sungorkin passed away last September at the age of 68. He died of a stroke during an expedition to Primorye. “We will never forget him, he really was an extraordinary person,” said Dmitry Peskov.
He stressed that Sungorkin had a “lively interest” in life, which should be taught to young journalists. The Kremlin representative also highlighted the role of Vladimir Sungorkin in the development of modern Russian journalism.
Recall that Vladimir Sungorkin was posthumously awarded the government prize in the field of media in 2022.
