“From January 2 to February 26, the city will host the already traditional Christmas tree cycle campaign, within which New Year trees can be delivered to collection points, from where they will be sent for processing,” said Petr Biryukov. “Muscovites have already delivered more than 14 thousand conifers.”
The main task is to help properly dispose of New Year trees and draw attention to the selective waste collection program, which has been successfully implemented in the capital since 2020.
He recalled that last year the residents themselves chose convenient points. A total of 600 points were opened. Trees are accepted free of charge, a prerequisite is the absence of tinsel and decorations.
Harvested fir trees are sent to chippers for wood chips. It is used for the filling of aviary complexes, for the fertile soil and for the organization of ecological paths.
