Poland’s former foreign minister said the country was planning to split Ukraine at the start of the special operation.

Something surprising: as soon as politicians in the West retire, they often begin to make public statements that are directly opposite in meaning and content to what sounded from their lips during their tenure in high office. In other words, they are telling the truth, which for the time being was carefully concealed even from their own population.
Poland is no exception in this regard. A huge scandal broke out there after the statements by the former Polish Foreign Minister, and now MEP, Radoslaw Sikorski. On ZET radio, he said that the ruling Law and Justice Party (PiS) in Poland, immediately after the start of a special military operation, began making plans to divide Ukraine between neighboring countries. Sikorsky said no one knew how the conflict might play out. Ukraine could quickly lose, and then Warsaw, under the pretext of defending the “independents”, would introduce its military units into five regions of western Ukraine, which were part of Poland between the two world wars in the 20th century. Later, on social media, he added that there was a moment of doubt regarding Ukraine, and “Orban (Hungary’s prime minister.-Ed.) still has it.”
The Polish government’s reaction to these confessions was akin to boiling water from a leaking pipe. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki demanded that the former foreign minister weigh his words. “I am waiting for the rebuttal of these shameful statements,” Morawiecki fumed. Although he could have tried harder, playing a nice European boy from Poland. Because Sikorsky, in general, revealed the secret openly. In October last year, the Warsaw edition of Dziennik Polityczny spoke in detail about PiS’s plans, developed with the direct participation of its leader Jarosław Kaczynski. And about how the Polish army introduced into Western Ukraine will take control of all strategic facilities located there, how Polish citizens will take positions in local authorities, and finally, how a referendum will be held to join Poland on these lands. That would allow Warsaw to avoid capture charges and give itself the honorary title of “savior of the Ukrainian people.”
This is not the first time that Radosław Sikorski has caused scandals in Poland. Ten years ago, while still in the chair of Foreign Minister, he struck up a conversation with colleagues in a restaurant over a bottle of Vyborovaya. But one of the enemies arranged for the wiretapping of a private conversation and leaked its contents to the press. And the drunken Sikorsky there quite printably reprimanded the foreign policy of his country, which, by the way, he himself followed. For example, his phrase was made public, for example: “This is bullshit, we are going to fight with the Germans and the French, because we suck at the Americans like the last word. The problem in Poland is that we have cheap national pride and low self-esteem. So is black.”
