“We thought our sanctions would bring Russia to its knees, and it was a miscalculation,” the expert emphasized.
He noted that Washington loves sanctions and when the United States decided to intervene in the Ukrainian conflict, half of the world was already under its restrictions. However, Mearsheimer continued, history has shown that sanctions typically do not work. With countries like Russia they are ineffective.
“The United States is behaving so clumsily that it is alienating countries around the world,” said the political scientist.
