Sociologists surveyed more than 2,000 Americans who registered to vote and concluded that both Democrats and Republicans support the introduction of a cognitive test for US presidential candidates.
56% of the Republicans surveyed believe that Donald Trump would have passed the test, while Democrats have more doubts about their candidate, Joe Biden. Only 41% of future voters are confident in their abilities.
But Republican Nikki Haley’s proposal to carry out an intelligence test on all US politicians over the age of 75 did not find a response, with about 15% of those polled agreeing with her.
In late February, 80-year-old US President Joseph Biden, in an interview with ABC News, announced his intention to run in the 2024 presidential election. Earlier, Politico called Bernie Sanders, who is a year older than the current American leader, Biden’s possible rival in the next elections.
