Prada and adidas (who signed a partnership deal in 2019 and managed to launch three collaborations during this time) have teamed up again, this time to create football boots.
While this isn’t Prada’s first sports-related release, the brand hasn’t released anything about soccer before. WWD notes that this is in line with the principles that Prada and adidas announced when they launched their partnership. That is, to “challenge conventional wisdom with unexpected strategies.”
Designed for men and women, the collection includes the adidas Predator Accuracy, Copa Pure and X Crazyfast. The upper and lining are made of leather, accented with red details. The boots are limited edition.
To further the collaboration, the brands recruited the best soccer players from around the world to wear the new boots on the pitch. They are Catarina Macario and Paulo Dybala in Copa Pure, Rafael Leao in X Crazyfast and Pedro González López aka Pedri in Predator Accuracy shoes. The athletes also starred in an advertising campaign.
Previously, Prada showed an ad campaign for the updated Prada Galleria bag. It was launched in 2007 and is named after the location of the brand’s legendary Milan flagship, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II luxury shopping arcade. It was there that Mario Prada opened his store in 1913. And since then, this model has earned the status of a “classic” of the Italian house.
