The Karo Oktyabr cinema hosted the social premiere of the series “Games”, which will be available for viewing on August 3 at the Kinopoisk cinema. The film, which tells about people and their dramas in the context of the organization of the 1980 Olympic Games, was presented by director Evgeny Stychkin, showrunner Alexandra Remizova, actors Alexey Serebryakov, Maria Karpova, Vyacheslav Chepurchenko, Yuri Stoyanov, Pavel Maykov, as well as Olympic champion Angelina Melnikova.
The Games series is said to have become the most anticipated project in the entire history of Kinopoisk. This is the fourth major project of Evgeny Stychkin as a director. Even Alexey Serebryakov, who rarely appears at social events, attended the premiere of The Games. The actor, who celebrated his 60th birthday in July, came with his wife Maria and his daughter from his first marriage, Daria. Alexey met his wife in Canada. It is known that Serebryakov lives in two countries. The couple also has two children whom they adopted.
The new drama series “Games” will also feature a real athlete, Olympic champion and honored master of sports Angelina Melnikova. 24-year-old Angelina came to the premiere on crutches.
“I shouldn’t have been here today. I was supposed to be at the Russian Cup in Novosibirsk, but yesterday during the warm-up I got injured – I have a slight sprain in my calf. Apparently, the Universe has other plans. And here I am today,” Angelina Melnikova told KP.RU.
In the series, 24-year-old Angelina played a gymnast preparing to perform at the 1980 Olympics. At first, Melnikova was invited to play the role of an understudy to perform complex gymnastic elements. But in the end, director Evgeny Stychkin liked the athlete so much that he invited her to audition. The gymnast even consulted with famous actors. And three days later she successfully passed the audition.
“This is a big step for me, a great opportunity. This role is very close to me, my heroine is brave, courageous, she has a big dream for which she is ready to endure difficulties. All this is very familiar to a professional athlete,” Angelina shared with KP.RU.
Maria appeared on the road in a short white dress, it was clear that the actress would soon become a mother. However, Karpova refused to comment.
67-year-old Yuri Stoyanov, who arrived in a cheerful and good mood, said that he himself offered to play Leonid Brezhnev. It turned out that at first he was seen in a completely different role, but there, according to Yuri Nikolaevich, there were too many shooting days. He simply could not because of his schedule.
“Then I asked: ‘Who is playing Brezhnev? ’ ‘Yes, we are terrified ourselves, we don’t know,’ they answered. The problem was solved. He was in power during my youth. Secondly, I know that era and this person very well, with whom I once communicated personally. I had the task of playing this man in a difficult time for our country,” said Yuri Stoyanov.
By the way, the actor, according to him, even wrote a story about his meeting with Leonid Brezhnev. It also turned out that Yuri Nikolaevich bears a physical resemblance to the Soviet politician. Therefore, no makeup was needed.
“There was no makeup! They just enlarged my eyebrows. And there was a little wig. That’s all. Nothing else,” Stoyanov told KP.RU.
By the way, if you remember the story, the 1980 Moscow Olympics were in jeopardy due to the war in Afghanistan, which is depicted in the series.
“I was not at the 1980 Olympics because I served in the army at that difficult time. 1979 and 1980 were a very difficult time when we entered Afghanistan,” Yuri Stoyanov shared with KP.RU.
Vyacheslav Chepurchenko, who played a small role, but at the same time a very colorful character, came in the company of his wife Ekaterina. That evening, all members of the crew loudly praised Evgeniy Stychkin, saying that this was a rare example of an actor turning into a genius director. 37-year-old Chepurchenko was no exception.
“I remember this project because I met Evgeniy Stychkin. And now in every interview I wish him health, happiness, creative success, because I am in love with him as a director. He is beautiful. He trusts, helps, directs in the right direction, but does not break, which is very important,” Viacheslav told KP.RU.
Evgeny Stychkin himself came to the premiere not with his wife, actress Olga Sutulova, but with his beloved mother Ksenia Ryabinkina, a former soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre.
Konstantin Khabensky, Andrey Maksimov, Danila Vorobyov, tennis player Svetlana Kuznetsova and many others were also present.
