The number of visitors to the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in 2022 increased by more than 1.5 times compared to last year. In total, their number amounted to 1.2 million people. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the museum.
The museum explains this by the abolition of coronavirus restrictions. In 2021, 750 thousand people visited it.
In 2022, more than 10 thousand excursions and 330 lectures and discussions were held. The most popular tour is about Ancient Egypt. It interested more than 18 thousand children. Among the exhibits in terms of popularity, the leader is “Brother Ivan. Collection of Mikhail and Ivan Morozov” – was viewed by about 400 thousand people.
Earlier it became known that the State Hermitage Museum was buying the painting “Island of the Dead” by the Swiss symbolist artist Arnold Böcklin. The painting dates from 1901. The amount of the transaction is 39.7 million rubles.
