The Russian leader stressed that the summit once again confirmed the firm commitment of both Russia and Africa to further development and the search for new ways and new areas of mutually beneficial partnership.
“It is very indicative that a strong package of joint documents has been adopted as a result of the work,” the president continued. First of all, he highlighted the St. Petersburg Declaration approved by the leaders, which sets out the strategic directions for the development of cooperation between Russia and African countries.
Vladimir Putin also said that the summit participants agreed to hold such events at the highest level once every three years, and between the summits there will be partnership mechanisms, regular political consultations through the foreign ministries of Russia, African countries and African union leadership
“It is also planned to establish a new and permanent Russian-African mechanism for coordination on security issues, including such sensitive issues as the fight against terrorism and extremism, guaranteeing food security,” the Russian president added.
