According to the Kremlin press service, the head of state highlighted Erdogan’s great personal contribution to the development of Russian-Turkish relations. In addition, the leaders addressed current issues on the bilateral agenda.
Putin also sent a congratulatory telegram to the President of Turkey, in which he highlighted Erdogan’s courage and ability to make balanced and necessary decisions.
“At this difficult time, in such a critical situation, when Turkey is overcoming the tragic consequences of the devastating earthquakes, its best qualities as a statesman and a person are fully manifested,” the telegram reads.
Putin also expressed his confidence that the Russian Federation and Turkey will continue to implement mutually beneficial joint projects and continue to coordinate efforts to address important issues on the regional and global agenda.
It should be noted that this is the second conversation between the Russian leader and the Turkish president in three days. On February 24, the leaders discussed joint projects in the energy sector and exchanged views on the situation around Ukraine, the implementation of the Istanbul agreements on the export of Ukrainian grain and the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers.
