Already on the morning of January 16, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov refused to confirm a possible talk between Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. A presidential spokesman said he tries “not to get ahead of himself” when it comes to official negotiations.
But late in the evening, a message appeared on the website of the head of the country that the politicians were able to talk. And that was what was discussed.
First of all, the presidents discussed the mega fuel project for the construction of a gas center in Turkey. The project is officially called the priority of relations between the two countries. In the future we will take gas to Turkey, so that it goes from there to Europe. Blue fuel is supposed to thus become impersonal, allowing everyone to circumvent EU sanctions.
Erdogan offered Russia not to stop the prisoner exchange with Ukraine. First of all, the wounded soldiers can return home.
“Vladimir Putin drew attention to the destructive line of the Kyiv regime, which was based on the intensification of hostilities with the support of Western patrons, increasing the volume of transferred weapons and military equipment. An example of Kyiv’s hypocritical policy was the rejection of the ceasefire proposal during the Orthodox Christmas period,” the Kremlin said.
