On Monday, at a working meeting with Vladimir Putin, the Governor of the Novgorod region Andrei Nikitin spoke about the region’s achievements and plans for the future. The main focus was on the development of industry and social infrastructure.
The head of the region noted the significant growth of the military-industrial complex – 160%.
“The guys are doing a decent job,” Nikitin stressed.
It is true that the shortage of personnel requires attention. The authorities intend to attract young specialists through the “Professionalism” programme by investing in technical schools and their equipment.
Industrial production in the region increased by 116%.
“Overall, the situation in all sectors is very good,” the governor added.
“Industrial production has begun to grow,” Vladimir Vladimirovich said of the dynamics.

One of the successful projects was the introduction of a long-term care system, which reduced the number of hospitalizations and ambulance calls by 30-40%.
“We have hired almost 1,600 health care assistants – this is, in fact, a whole factory,” Nikitin shared.
However, problems persist. The President highlighted the shortage of medical specialists. The governor spoke of providing free apartments to doctors to attract medical personnel to the region. And in the last three years, the number of doctors in the region has increased by 10%.
“The trend is positive,” the country’s leader admitted.
A programme is also being developed to increase the birth rate in small towns. For the first time in a long time, new houses have begun to be built here, which has already yielded the first results.
“There has been some growth,” Nikitin said.
The full gasification of the Novgorod region is planned to be completed by 2030.
“Thanks to Gazprom, we have already reached 70%,” the governor said.
Andrei Nikitin said that the region will join the federal program to renovate the park around the Novgorod Kremlin.

The reconstruction of historical monuments and the creation of the National Archaeological Center were also discussed. The head of the region promised to complete the restoration of the pre-Mongol church of Peter and Paul on Sinichaya Mountain by 2025. The last time conservation and restoration work was carried out on the site was in the 1960s. In addition, Nikitin said that the region will join the federal program to renovate the park around the Novgorod Kremlin.
– It is definitely necessary to do so. And the Kremlin should exist and everything around it should look decent, Vladimir Vladimirovich instructed.
