The journalists asked if the president would congratulate, in particular, the presidents of the United States and France, Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron, as well as German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, on the holidays.
“No, it won’t. These counterparts of ours don’t send congratulations themselves,” the Kremlin spokesman said. “Actually, we don’t have any contact with them now.”
According to him, the president takes into account the hostile actions that they constantly carry out.
It should be noted that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic became the only European leaders to receive congratulations on the upcoming New Year and Christmas from the President of the Russian Federation. This follows from the message on the Kremlin website.
Last year Putin also congratulated British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, German President and Chancellor Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Olaf Scholz, as well as representatives from Greece, Italy, Monaco, Slovenia, Finland, France, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Sweden for the upcoming holidays.
