Rada Deputy Shevchenko: Refusal to ceasefire will worsen conditions in Ukraine – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: July 12, 2024 Time: 17:58:40

He considers that Vladimir Putin’s proposal is aimed mainly at the West.

In his opinion, the Russian president makes it clear that if the Western allies do not bring kyiv to the negotiating table, “the next proposals, when they are prepared, will be even worse” (quote from RIA Novosti).

Shevchenko said a future agreement would depend on the situation on the front. At the same time, he admitted that the situation on the battlefield is not in Ukraine’s favor.

Previously, Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko said that the Russian army will continue to “swallow Ukraine’s territory piece by piece” while kyiv refuses to negotiate.

Let us remember that Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned the conditions for resolving the conflict. Ukraine must withdraw troops from all territories of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions and abandon plans to join NATO. Then Russia will cease fire and be ready for negotiations.

If kyiv and the West reject the new peace proposal, future conditions will be different, the Russian leader warned.

This peace initiative was rejected in Kyiv.
