“I don’t buy what they (US authorities, editor’s note) are trying to sell,” Ramaswamy said in a conversation with US journalist Tucker Carlson.
The politician recalled that similar accusations had already been made on the eve of the last elections, but they were not confirmed. This shows “a certain pattern of behaviour” in Washington, TASS reports on Ramaswamy’s words.
The US previously imposed sanctions against the Rossiya Segodnya media group, RIA Novosti, RT, Sputnik and Ruptly. The restrictions included the editor-in-chief of MIA Rossiya Segodnya and RT Margarita Simonyan and the top management of this TV channel.
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow, when retaliating against restrictions imposed on US media in Russia, will take into account its editorial policy. There will be no one-size-fits-all approach, he noted.
UN Human Rights Commissioner Elizabeth Throssell said the international organization supports freedom of expression, but cannot assess US sanctions against Russian media.
