Scientists performed the necessary calculations and found that the probability of such an outcome is 99.9% – this time the cloud rushes directly towards the Earth, the error can only be in the time of arrival of solar masses and in the force of the impact.
The cloud is expected to reach the planet on Thursday at around 22:00 Moscow time. It will cause a magnetic storm of level G1-G2 on a 5-point scale.
“It is expected to peak between 3 and 4 a.m., when the dense core of the cloud reaches the planet,” the report said.
Recall that earlier scientists predicted a magnetic storm on September 10. However, this did not happen, as the plasma cloud that was released after the flare on September 7 flew past the Earth.
