“We are working hard to ensure that any couple in Moscow can choose the marriage registration format that suits them best. Nearly 200 different locations are already available from Wedding Palaces, Moscow City skyscrapers, vintage properties and modern spaces to My Documents Public Service Centers”. “The number of marriages is increasing: in 2022, we registered 15% more marriages than the previous year. 100,613 couples got married in the capital, this is the highest number in the 105-year history of registry offices since 1918 “.
Anastasia Rakova noted that the 100,000 marriage mark was reached for only the second time in the 105-year history. This number was first recorded in 2014.
The most popular venue in 2022 was the Oko Tower (Birds restaurant), where more than 1,500 couples got married. More than 1,300 couples have chosen to hold a solemn ceremony on the territory of the Temple of the Matrona of Moscow. The park-hotel “Danilovsky” became one of the most popular places, it was chosen for the wedding of about 1000 couples.
The most popular day to get married in 2022 was Saturday, chosen by 30% of couples, another quarter of newlyweds getting married on Friday. However, during the summer period, weekdays are also becoming popular, so in 2023, off-site wedding venues became available on weekdays and Sundays. Previously, it was possible to get married at a place of departure only on Fridays and Saturdays.
