According to the meteorologist, the air temperature record in Moscow was recorded on January 1, 1973, amounting to plus 4.2 degrees.
According to forecasts, on January 1, 2023, it will approach this value or even exceed it, rising to plus 3-5 degrees in Moscow and up to plus 6 degrees in the region.
In St. Petersburg, according to Vilfand, a warm January 1 is also expected. The record value of plus 4.5 degrees was recorded in 2017. As Vilfand points out, there is a high probability that on January 1, 2023 it will exceed this value.
Vilfand explained that such warming in Moscow and St. Petersburg is expected due to the circulation of warm air masses from the southern waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the North African regions.
