Bakulev of the Russian Ministry of Health developed and patented a new method of surgical treatment of congenital heart disease, which uses the patient’s own tissues. Congenital heart disease requires urgent surgical attention. A baby with such a disease has no communication between the ascending and descending parts of the main main artery, which disrupts the functioning of the myocardium, respiration, kidneys and liver. Life threatening.

In newborns with anomalies of the aortic arch, the trunk of the pulmonary artery is enlarged, so tissue is removed from it for “bridge” prostheses connecting the interrupted parts of the artery.
According to cardiovascular surgeons, the authors of the technique, the new method of operation allows not only to restore blood circulation in the main vessel of the body to a level close to normal, but also reduces the risk of subsequent complications and delays the time of repeated operations. A small patient has a good opportunity for growth and development.
