Imagine the situation. Phone scammers call you and say: you need to apply for a loan and transfer all the money to us (usually they ask for it in more sophisticated terms, but the gist is the same). And you answered them: sorry, “security officer”, I forbade myself to take loans! And even if you fall for the scammers’ bait and apply for a loan from the bank, the financial institution will reject it. For the same reason: you yourself have forbidden it.

The Central Bank has prepared a bill on the right to self-restraint and is about to submit it to the State Duma. If the law is passed, we could be prohibited from taking loans through public services. Log in to your account, set a ban on getting loans and this information will automatically go to the bureau of credit history (BKI).

How will the bank find out?

– A person applied for a loan from a bank or a microfinance organization. They accepted an application and made an application to the BKI – everything is in order with the borrower with a credit history. If the office answers that there is a ban, then the loan will not be issued, – explained arbitration manager Oksana Amarova on the air of Komsomolskaya Pravda radio (97.2 FM).

By the way, such a ban will help protect yourself not only from phone thieves. Oksana Amarova reminds: scammers often take a loan for lost documents or a stolen electronic signature. It is very difficult to prove afterwards that it was not you who took the loan.

– We are regularly contacted by people with a bankruptcy petition, because they cannot pay the loans issued by scammers. Therefore, I am sure that there will be a demand for self-ban, says the expert. – If you really need to get a loan or a mortgage, then the ban can be removed.
