Throughout the past week, the different operators have been announcing their respective discounts, between 50% and 90%, and conditions to make it easier for young people to travel by transport this summer season. In a statement, the Ministry explained that, in the current situation derived from the war in Ukraine, “marked by the inflationary tensions that are emerging in the passenger transport sector”, it is “necessary” to adopt a public policy that “facilitates young people the use of public transport when traveling during the summer”.
All offers meet the same conditions: the discounts are available to young people between 18 and 30 years of age, born between 1993 and 2005, of Spanish nationality or of a European Union country with legal residence in Spain. In addition, the bonuses will be applied to the price of single or round-trip tickets that will have a date for travel between June 15 and September 15.
To extract the measure, young people must register in the form on the Mitma website to confirm that they meet the requirements and, where appropriate, obtain the personal and non-transferable code that they must use to purchase the Interrail pass and tickets. offered. Registration is open from June 1 and must be done at least 24 hours before purchasing the first ticket.
Discounts of up to 90% in Renfe
Renfe has already put tickets on sale with discounts of up to 90% this past Tuesday. The discounts include 50% discounts on AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Intercity and Euromed trains, with a maximum discount of 30 euros per ticket, 50% for simple Avant tickets and 90% for other Media services. Distance or Metric Width network.
In addition, a discount of 50% of the Interrail Global Flexible of 10 days in 2 months is applied, when it is marketed through Renfe. These discounted tickets will be available in the coming days on the Renfe website.
For its part, the sale of Iryo tickets with 50% discounts on all its routes is also available since last Wednesday. Iryo’s Sales Director, Guillermo Turner, highlighted that “bringing High Speed closer to the public, turning the train into their preferred mobility option, is one of the main purposes of the operator’s project.”
In addition, Ouigo joins the Ministry’s program with offers of 50% on the ticket price up to a maximum of 30 euros from June 8. The operator, which began its operation in May 2021, reaffirms its commitment to provide affordable rates for young people and takes this opportunity to capture the attention of these generations and allow them to try out a “comfortable, simple and innovative” service.
Discounts of 90% in Alsa and Avanza
Bus transport companies also offer their respective discounts to facilitate mobility between autonomous communities. Alsa is already selling tickets with a 90% discount by selecting the option “Youth Summer 2023 (18-30 years)” in its search engine and entering the code provided by the Ministry. Also, Avanza has made the 90% discounts on the trips contracted this summer and through its website will be available “soon”.
However, in other bus operators such as Interbus, Monbus or FlixBux there is no promotion of this discount for young people in summer, since their respective websites do not give the possibility of using this type of offer.
