Renfe puts free passes for sale for the second four-month period of 2023

Date: June 5, 2023 Time: 07:19:57

Renfe users can already purchase the free Cercanías, Rodalies and Media Distancia passes starting today, Saturday, to travel between May 1 and August 31, 2023, as reported by the railway company itself.

To expedite the acquisition of passes, they can be purchased through the Cercanías Renfe application, and, in the case of Media Distancia passes, through the Renfe website and usual sales channels, such as stations and vending machines. In any case, the client must be previously registered.

Security deposit of 10 euros

Specifically, to purchase the subscription, although it is free, it is necessary to deposit a deposit of 10 euros in the case of Cercanías and Rodalies, and 20 euros for each conventional Media Distancia service. Additionally, payment by card will allow the automatic return of the deposit, once it is verified that the condition of having made 16 trips during these four months has been met.

For children under 14 without ID, Renfe has created a recurring subscription for Media Distancia services, which can be purchased through the railway company’s website or application. Thus, the father, mother or guardian will be the ones who will be able to acquire, through their NIF, NIE or passport, a maximum of four child passes for an origin and destination, the period of validity.

For rail services, Avant maintains the 50% discount on season tickets. Likewise, this same discount is applied to other high-speed routes that have been declared a Public Service Obligation (OSP), which operate under the same conditions as an Avant Pass.

For their part, travelers who have used the free Cercanías, Rodalies or Media Distancia pass in the first four-month period of 2023 will have their deposit returned, provided they have met the conditions thereof. In addition, those who paid the deposit with a card will be automatically returned.
