Renfe has issued a total of 2,160,000 free passes on Cercanías, Rodalies and Media Distancia, and Avant passes with 50% discounts during the first three months of the second quarter of 2023, according to the entity.
Of the total number of free multi-trip tickets issued for trips between May 1 and August 30, 2023, more than 2 million correspond to season tickets to travel on the different Cercanías, Rodalies, Cercanías Metric Gauge and Medium Distance lines. .
In addition to the free subscriptions for recurring customers, Renfe has sold close to 90,000 tickets with 50% discounts from Avant to be used on high-speed medium-distance services.

Since last Tuesday, Renfe users can obtain the free Cercanías, Rodalies and Media Distancia passes for the third quarter, for trips between September 1 and December 31, 2023. To speed up the acquisition of the passes and avoid necessary wait times, passes can be obtained through the Renfe Cercanías app, and in the case of Media Distancia passes through the website www.renfe.com and usual sales channels (stations, vending machines, etc. ) . To do this, the client must be previously registered.
For Avant rail services, the 50% discount on season tickets is maintained. This same discount is applied to other high-speed routes that have been declared a Public Service Obligation (OSP), which operate under the same conditions as an Avant Pass.
To purchase the subscription, even if it is free, it is necessary to deposit a deposit of 10 euros in the case of Cercanías and Rodalies, and 20 euros for each conventional Media Distancia service. Payment by card will allow the automatic return of the deposit, once it is verified that the condition of having made 16 trips during these four months has been met.
