Two Russian women immediately made it to the top 5 of the international Miss Ocean World contest, which ended that evening in India. According to the rules, girls could represent not only their country, but also specific regions.
Tatyana Fedorishcheva, who became the third vice-miss, came to the contest from the Republic of Crimea. In the round dedicated to national costumes, she came out in the uniform of the Black Sea Navy, and at that moment the screen behind her showed footage of a military parade, including a speech by Vladimir Putin.
After such a shocking appearance, she was almost kicked out of the competition program due to political overtones, but everything turned out well and Fedorishcheva became the third vice-miss and fourth overall.
