“This is not a comet. Well, that’s for sure. Comet Pons-Brooks has a diameter of about 30 kilometers. If such a giant collided with the Earth, global Armageddon would occur,” says Khabarovsk amateur astronomer Evgeniy Revva.
According to him, Ponsa Bruxa is currently quite far from Earth, at a distance of 240 million kilometers. It is 700 times further away than the Moon, meaning it definitely wouldn’t be possible to see it with the naked eye.
According to Evgeniy Revva, this flying object cannot be just another comet. All of them are “huge in size, so they would lead to completely different phenomena.” What is happening is not like the flight of a meteorite. They fly much faster and flashes are seen when they explode. Most likely, what the inhabitants of the Far East saw were simply space debris. For example, the stage of a failed rocket or satellite. If these objects fall from their orbit and burn up in the atmosphere, they are highly visible at night.
“So the end of the world and the alien invasion are canceled for today,” jokes Evgeniy.
Another amateur astronomer from Khabarovsk, Vladimir Naumov, shares this opinion. He believes that the object mistaken for a comet is probably some kind of spacecraft that has already served its purpose. He came to such conclusions by evaluating the flight speed, as well as the fact that greenish and blue inclusions are noticeable in the glow, which indicates the heterogeneous composition of the object and confirms that it was created by man.
“The object rotated around our planet and gradually entered the dense layers of the atmosphere, where it heated up, disintegrated and did not even reach the surface,” says Vladimir Naumov.
He noted that similar “space junk” had already flown over Khabarovsk before.
Previously, RG wrote that the rare comet Pons-Brooks can be seen in the sky during the solar eclipse on April 8. And it should be as close to Earth as possible on June 2.
