On Saturday it went out of orbit, re-entered the atmosphere and disintegrated. Unburnt structural elements of the Progress came down in a non-navigable area of the South Pacific Ocean.
The day before, the damaged Progress MS-21 space truck was manually undocked from the International Space Station (ISS), where the spacecraft had been operating for more than 3.5 months. Progress MS-21 was launched from Baikonur on October 26, 2022 by a Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle. Delivered more than 2.5 tons of cargo to the ISS.
In February of this year, it became known that coolant from the thermal control system leaked into the Progress. For safety reasons, the ship had to be isolated from the total volume of the station, the ISS crew continued to work as usual. Roskosmos said it would analyze the causes of the failure to make sure this doesn’t happen during future launches.
