Approximately 40,000 spinal surgeries are performed annually in Russia for a variety of indications. Approximately 10 thousand of them are performed with the use of implants (cages). Most of them were imported.
Recently, according to Medvestnik, Roszdravnadzor registered Russia’s first 3D-printed spinal cages from a domestic manufacturer. According to the company that produces implants under the Pozvonoq brand, the launch of mass production will replace up to 20% of cages for spinal surgery imported into the country.
Operations with domestic cages have already been carried out in various regional medical institutions. Russian implants are created from a biocompatible titanium alloy, taking into account the specifics of the defect and the anatomical features of the patient’s musculoskeletal system, that is, individually, due to which they have a high survival rate.
