Having relinquished titles and financial support from Buckingham Palace in early 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, with the illusion of hunting dogs, were looking for where to sell the secrets of the British crown at a higher price. One lucrative offer was a $20 million contract with the Spotify audio platform. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were to regularly release exclusive podcasts.

The program was called “Archetypes”. The idea for the show’s format was pitched by Spotify’s director of podcast innovation and monetization, Bill Simmons, in one of his conversations with Prince Harry on Zoom. As a result, it was decided to release Archetypes in an interview format, where Meghan Markle chatted with famous friends and world stars. Among the guests are tennis player Serena Williams, singer Mariah Carey, comedian Trevor Noah.

But in three years, Megan and Harry published only one series of shows, consisting of 12 episodes. They went no further. Since November last year, fans have not waited for a single new episode, The Guardian writes.

The Spotify deal ended with the couple’s audio company, Archwell, recently ending its relationship with the platform. The joint statement says that the parties decided to terminate the contract by mutual agreement, they all parted peacefully and are proud of the creation they have created during this time.

Harry and Megan will definitely not receive the full amount stipulated in the contract, since they did not prepare enough videos and actually broke the deal. Company sources say many at Spotify are frustrated with the Dukes’ poor performance. They expected more content from them.

Angry Bill Simmons called Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “scammers.” He has made no secret of his disdain for the Sussexes before and has said he resents having to “share” Spotify with Prince Harry.

“You’re just selling documentaries and podcasts, no one cares what you think about anything unless you’re talking about royals or complaining about them,” Simmons said on his podcast in January.
