Manila-born designer Ruigi Villasenor, who founded Los Angeles-based streetwear label Rhude in 2015, will step down as Bally’s chief creative officer. He has held this position since January of last year. WWD writes about it.
The brand says the decision to leave was mutual. Nicolas Girotto, the brand’s CEO, thanked the designer for “the passion, energy and creativity that helped put Bally back in the spotlight.” Until the appointment of a new creative director, the design team will work on the collections of the house. Ruigi will continue working on his own brand.
Ruigi Villaseñor was a finalist for the Woolmark Award last year. Joining him are Jaehyun Lee, South Korean designer Maxxij, Bluemarble founder Anthony Alvarez, A. Roege Hove’s Amalia Rege Howe, Irish designer Robin Lynch, Italy’s Marco Rambaldi, designer duo Lucille Gilmar and Paolina Russo from the label Paolina Russo fought for the victory and Adehu Thompson, founder of the Lagos Space Program.
