In the fall, a visit of the Uzbek delegation to Russia is planned, issues of tourism development and joint programs in three areas will be discussed: youth, medicine and industry.

“When a person visits a country as a young person, its sights and part of its culture remain in his memory for the rest of his life. For example, I once visited Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd, saw the monument to the Fatherland. This made a great impression for me “I would like young people from Uzbekistan to visit Moscow, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Kazan, Ufa and other cities, in a word, to see Russia. I also want the youth of Russia to see the cities of Uzbekistan and, in particular, Samarkand, “he noted in conversation with” RG “Rustam Kobilov.

He added that mutual youth tourism exchange programs could affect schoolchildren and gifted students. It is being discussed that the host party could cover the cost of living of the organized groups.

Regarding industrial tourism, Rustam Kobilov noted that a production line for the assembly of KAMAZ vehicles operates in Samarkand. There are other companies that could be of interest to Russians who come here for business and tourism.

Currently, the flow of tourists from Russia to Uzbekistan, as well as to other CIS countries, is increasing. According to Rustam Kobilov, last year about 100,000 tourists from Russia visited the Samarkand region alone. This year this figure is from the beginning of the year. The high season is not over yet. “We hope that by the end of the year around 150 thousand tourists from Russia will arrive in the Samarkand region,” said deputy Hakim.

At the same time, Russian travel agencies receive a 50 percent discount when showing iconic tourist sites, which reduces the cost of the tour. The extension of this measure for next year is currently being discussed.
