Russian Defense Ministry equips 14 berths for warships in Kaspiysk

Date: April 19, 2024 Time: 10:58:23

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov in Dagestan inspected the progress of the arrangement on the docking front at the Caspian flotilla base.

“Currently, the construction of a whole complex of new hydraulic structures in Kaspiysk continues, including the northern and southern protective piers with a total length of almost 3 kilometers, berths and coastal infrastructure to effectively ensure the parking and maintenance of ships, boats and ships. ”, commented the Russian Defense Ministry.

The military department said that work in the Kaspiysk port has been actively carried out since 2018. And in 2022, specialists from the Military Construction Complex of the Ministry of Defense have already put the northern pier and 7 berths into operation.

“This year it is planned to introduce 4 more berths, as well as a hydraulic launch for the ships to go to sea. In total, the large-scale construction of a new base point for the ships of the Caspian Flotilla provides for the construction of 14 berths, including 3 floating berths,” the Ministry of Defense clarified about the work plans.

Now, to ensure the necessary depths of the port created in the inland water area, military builders have taken samples of sand and soil from the bottom, and the installation of a complex of engineering networks and infrastructure continues.

Residential buildings, schools and kindergartens are being built near the port.

By the way, the creation of a new military base in Kaspiysk began after the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu made the decision in 2018 to transfer the Caspian flotilla from Astrakhan, which is less convenient for ships in hydrological terms to Dagestan.

MEANWHILE

As it became known during the working trip of Deputy Minister Timur Ivanov, at the end of 2023, the Ministry of Defense will build a new military hospital with 150 beds in Kaspiysk. He visited the site where construction had already started.

A modern medical and diagnostic building, an infectious diseases department, an oxygen station, as well as two heliports for the prompt delivery of the wounded will be built.

Everything is designed in such a way that not only military personnel and their families, but also the civilian population of the republic will be able to receive high-tech specialized medical care at the hospital.
