As part of the working visit, Lavrov will meet with South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor. They will discuss preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit and economic forum to be held in St. Petersburg at the end of July. Also on the agenda are current issues of interaction in the BRICS, where South Africa is chairing this year, and joint work on other international platforms. In addition, a meeting with President Cyril Ramaphosa is planned.
Lavrov last met his South African counterpart in September on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
